Lyrics: I'm not asking you to follow me Just to understand a way We may be stunted by the madness we see Don't let it slip away
You may resist I may not regret We may be happy For a time
Don't get me wrong I'm only stuck in this song for so long Don't wait too long I'm only nailed to this wall for so long Don't wait too long I'm only nailed to this cross for so long For so long
Pay no attention to the man you see Don't listen to a word I say There may come a time you cannot see Don't let it slip away
You may resist I may not regret We may be happy For a time
Don't get me wrong I'm only stuck in this song for so long Don't wait too long I'm only nailed to this wall for so long Don't wait too long I'm only nailed to this cross for so long For so long

Recording Notes - Recorded by Myles Mangino at Planet of Sound, Hartford, CT. Guitar/Vocals - Frank Black, Organ - Erik James, Background Vocals - Mark Mulcahy
Quotes: "[Frank] recorded the guitar tracks on his Martin and then sang the song a couple of times thru. Right when he had to leave we did one more pass and he decided to try it as a whisper... I reached over and twisted the preamp on the mic all the way to full about 2 seconds before he started to sing. Its the mic being so hot and him singing so quiet that gives it that eerie sound. The vocal track is totally dry. no effects at all. And he sang this in one take all the way thru!
Charles hopped back in the car and drove up to Boston for another show that night. The next day Erik James laid down the B3 organ part and Mark Mulcahly drove down from Springfield to record the background vocals. Not sure how we came up with those parts - it just happened. It was one of those magic moments where everything just comes together."
